Morning Sickness, Airplane Rides and Kentucky!

Well the baby must have read my last post because it seems like the next day I started getting morning sickness with a vengeance. I need not go into gory detail but let me just say it leaves me pretty incapacitated! Luckily there is a magic pill, called Zofran. One little white pill in the morning and ALL the nausea and vomiting virtually disappears! Just hoping they will give it to me for the duration of my morning sickness! :0)

Yesterday, we headed to BWI to hop on an airplane and fly 600 miles west to see my best friend Nikki and her family. It was a very nice, very uneventful flight in the smallest plane I have EVER been in! ALL bags had to be gate-checked because there was NO overhead room LOL! The flight was pretty empty so we were fortunate to get to leave Scarlette in her carrier for the flight instead of on my lap! She was calm and quiet the entire hour and half flight!

We got here yesterday morning, and spent the day running errands and going to some fun consignment stores. I found some AWESOME purses to sell and got Scarlette the essentials for our week long stay. Today, we got to go to Cracker Barrell for lunch, and then took Nikki's 4 month old Newfoundland puppy (45 lbs already!) to the dog park. It was over 70 degrees and GORGEOUS!!!! There were at least 40 dogs there and it was packed! It's been really fun interacting with all the kids, Ryder is so incredibly sweet with Scarlette and Scarlette tolerates him (which is saying something! LOL). I taught Ryder to say Coco today (my nickname that Nikki's baby niece used to call me) and I was so excited. Hoping for more nice weather but they are saying it might rain tomorrow! Pics coming soon!

Nicole

Baby #2.....

....has so far not really made it's presence known. I am just over 4 weeks now so it's still very early, but so far other than a heightened sense of smell I haven't noticed anything different. No morning sickness, no dizziness, although I have been a lot more tired than usual. When I was pregnant with Scarlette I found out very early as well, and the morning sickness started around 5 weeks....I am HOPING it's not as bad with this one as it was with her!

Mitch is CONFIDENT this baby is a boy, he will only refer to it as him or he and calls it by the boy name we have picked out. I, on the other hand am not as confident, although I have been drawn to buying little baby boy outfits (although that might be b/c it's different than what I have been buying for two years!)!!!

Scarlette obviously has NO idea what's going on but we keep reminding her that she's going to be a big sister! We are very excited. She is currently sitting on my lap saying da da da da da over and over again! I am so proud of all of her progress in the last few months, she is doing so well and she is SO close to sitting on her own! We got to move her into her big girl carseat this weekend, we want to get her used to it before the new baby gets here and steals her carrier! :0)

Well that's all for now! My first OB appt is on March 23, the day after we get home from Kentucky! Which reminds me, only 10 more days until we leave eek!!!!

It's the little things...

I feel like I only post when something HUGE happens...so this post is going to be about some exciting little things...maybe boring to most, but that made my day awesome!

1. Scarlette played in her jumperoo for 45 minutes today with her babysitter, Chris. She was SO happy to be in there and this is the first time since her surgery that she has been happy to be in her jumper! YAY!

2. We had a really fun mail day! A sweater dress that I have wanted for Scarlette for SO long came today, as well as a box of chocolates that I ordered from one of my friends who is a dove consultant (thanks Heather!)

3. I went to the grocery store today and got 2 weeks of food for next to nothing! Really good, healthy meals too!

4. Scarlette got a Sophie the Giraffe teether that squeaks and she LOVES it!

5. I took both the baby AND the dog for a walk today together, and they both did SO well!

6. I have 15 Coach purses coming in the mail in the next two weeks (to sell of course!)!!! Have I mentioned lately that I SERIOUSLY love my job!

7. I am 4 weeks pregnant as of today!

8. In two weeks I get to go to Kentucky with SJ to visit my best friend and her family. I haven't seen her since March of last year and I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

9. In a week we get Mitch's test results and find out whether he is board eligible (to make Chief). This one is more nervous than excited I think. LOL!

10. Scarlette has been talking up a STORM since she started saying da-da-da-da the other day! :0)

Here are some pics of my princess from the last few days, I take pics almost every day so I have lots!

Baby Skrove #2

Well, we are very excited to announce we will have a new addition to our family in approximately 8 1/2 months! We had decided a few months ago that we wanted Scarlette to have a sibling that is close in age so that maybe a little good old fashioned sibling rivalry will fuel her learning AND we had always wanted 2 kids and close together so we decided now was the time to start trying! We prayed about it and as the months went by, and it didn't happen, we knew the Lord was waiting for just the RIGHT moment.

I prayed exceptionally hard in February though, because secretly I REALLY wanted a November 11 baby to complement my September 09 baby and my July 07 wedding anniversary. I know that may seem trivial, but I didn't want this date to be any less "special" than the others (not that it really could! :0) ). So I prayed that if the timing was right please let this be the month we conceive!

I do not like waiting as most of you know and I HATE not knowing things so 9 days before I was supposed to test, I tested and it was negative. I wasn't too disappointed, I mean, it was WAY too early to be testing but I just couldn't resist! Well 2 days later, I tested AGAIN! I know all of you who have TTC'ed have been there, and I also know a lot of you are shaking your head at me like I am crazy, it's ok, I already know that! Well THIS time the test had a SUPER faint test line, I could see it but barely! I was really good and only tested once more that day with a different brand and the exact same result. I tried not to get too excited, after all if it's THAT early then it might not stick and be a chemical pregnancy, but of course the excitement was starting to bubble up. When Mitch got home from work and I showed him the tests he said I was imagining it.....he was partly joking, but he took ALL my tests away from me until the next morning LOL!

The next morning I took another test that used blue dye and got the EXACT same result. I had heard pink dye tests show a little more clearly so Scarlette and I ran to walmart and got a pink dye test and a digital. Yes, I probably spent $50 on tests (WORTH IT!). So I got home to take the pink dye test and voila! very faint pink line! I showed Mitch a picture while he was at work and he told me I drew the line on it! So THEN I took the digital test! I wrapped it with a bow and put it on his nightstand. I figured out what my "estimated" due date would be, 11/8/11! This was February 23! I still wasn't technically supposed to test until March 1!!!!!

Those who know me know I am the WORST secret keeper when it comes to my OWN exciting news and this was no different! I swore UP and DOWN that we were going to keep this a secret for the first 12 weeks, ya THAT didn't happen LOL! I told my family on February 26 during the day and let FB friends know that night! I had told a few close friends prior to that but that was it!

So Scarlette's going to be a big sister! I am amazed and terrified at the same time. SJ doesn't do very well with kids right now, they freak her out and she LOVES having all the adult attention in the room. So I am going to make sure she has LOTS of playdates between now and then! I am also nervous that I won't love a new baby as much as Scarlette. She's my miracle and she has gone through so much and I don't know if I can provide the same undivided attention to a new baby when Scarlette will still have so many doctor/therapy appts. I know every parent goes through this fear, so I know I will figure it out! We are just so excited that the Lord has blessed us not once but twice!

Here's a pic of the proof, and a pic of my sweet little girl!

Some recent pics of 17 month old SJ

Sitting, Babbling and Kentucky!

Hello all,

Of course so much has transpired since I haven't blogged in over a month! I really need to get better about my blogging habits!

Scarlette has been battling a g-tube infection (very common for those who have just received their g-tubes) but we finally have a doctor who is helping us and she is now on a 14 day course of antibiotic to really knock out the infection and allow her g-tube to heal. It definitely looks better than a few weeks ago, but still not a "pretty" g-tube which we are hoping for soon!

One of the most exciting milestones to occur this last month is sitting!! Scarlette has been sitting with minimal assistance for 2-5 minutes during play periods or in front of her mirror! And last week, Mitch and Jill, her physical therapist, witnessed her sit for a FULL 30 seconds UNASSISTED before toppling over. Sounds easy, but try doing a handstand and then holding it for 30 seconds, THAT is how difficult sitting is for SJ!!! :0) We are SOOOOO excited about this new development, one step closer to crawling and eventually walking!

She also has developed another new technique, babbling! She has incorporated some consonant sounds ga, ya, da, goo into her speech! She constantly makes these noises now, ESPECIALLY when trying to get our attention. We firmly believe getting her hearing aid has been instrumental in her learning new sounds and are so grateful that her hearing loss was caught as early as it was!

Our new home is wonderful, we are ALMOST completely done with unpacking and hanging pictures on the walls, HOPEFULLY we will be done by March 1!

And lastly, I am so excited because in just 3 weeks we are going to Kentucky to visit Nikki and her family! Just Scarlette and I are going as Mitch has work, but we get to stay for an entire week! I am praying it won't be TOO cold there! I am so excited to see Nikki and Ryder but I am also excited to get to visit a new state that I have never been too! I am also ecstatic that our plane ride is only an hour and a half!!! Much better than the six hour plane ride to Cali!!!

Hopefully I will be updating again soon!
